What is CBD?
Cannabinoids are a group of substances in CBD(Cannabis sativa) that comes from the hemp plant. The main cannabinoids are THC and cannabidiol (CBD), with over 100 cannabinoids identified. Although hemp and marijuana (weed) are from the same plant species, the difference is that marijuana contains more THC - the substance that makes you "high."
CBD is further classed as either full-spectrum, broad-spectrum or CBD isolate.
These are the differences between the 3 types of CBD:
Full-spectrum: These CBD products have many CBD plant extracts and usually have between 0.3% - 0.2% THC.
Broad-spectrum: These contains several cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant, but with no THC.
Isolate: Only contains CBD and has no other compounds. CBD Isolate is perfect for first-time users who don't want the extra effects of full-spectrum.
What to know about CBD Paste UK
CBD Paste has high concentrations of cannabidiol mixed with a carrier oil (like coconut oil, MCT oil, olive oil, etc.). You'll sometimes find it blended with wax or even butter. The paste looks similar to tar and has an earthy or "hempy" taste. That's because it's in the most natural raw state which makes it as close to chewing the raw hemp plant as possible.
Typically, only experienced users can handle the concentration levels you'll find in the paste. High concentrated raw CBD paste is CO2 extracted to preserve all the cannabinoids, phenols, and terpenes. CBD paste provides the "entourage effect" in which several cannabinoids and other compounds work in synergy supporting each of the ingredients.
Many people use CBD product as a natural alternative to prescription medicine. We would always recommend following prescribed medication and the advice of your GP or doctor. That being said, the natural anti-oxidizing and anti-inflammatory nature of cannabinoids are known to help with even complex medical conditions.
A cannabinoid acts on the endocannabinoid system's receptors in your brain. Studies show that CBD products may have therapeutic benefits such as sleep regulation and positive effects on appetite, immune system, and central nervous system.
When CBD products impact endocannabinoid receptors in your nervous system, pain is ca be lowered. The WHO (World Health Organisation) confirms that, unlike THC, CBD doesn't make you "high" because it's not psychoactive.
What is CBD paste used for?
CBD extract is used for it's apparent health benefits, although most of these supposed health benefits are under-researched. Studied hint that CBD can help with heart disease, neuropathic pain, depression, diabetes, and psychosis. But for cancer patients, CBD may reduce the side-effects associated with chemotherapy.
While this isn't a full list of what CBD products can do for you, here are some of the documented benefits of CBD.
Please note that CBD is a relatively new product, therefore a lot of the research has not been fully tested. Always consult your doctor or GP before using alternative therpies.
1) A Natural Pain Reliever
A clinical study on over 2000 people showed that CBD reduced pain by 37%. WHO also confirms that CBD may help people with chronic pain where other medications didn't work.
CBD may reduce pain in people with multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injuries and rheumatoid arthritis.
2) Reduce Anxiety and Depression
The WHO says that close to 5% of the European population suffer from anxiety and depression. Both mental health disorders are treated with pharmaceuticals which often causes side effects. Add to that, some medication like benzodiazepines is addictive, leading to substance abuse and memory loss.
Some evidence suggests that cannabinoids can treat anxiety, social anxiety, OCD, and PTSD. The use of these natural extracts may lead to many living as comfortably as possible with no memory loss, mood swings, or adverse effects on their breathing.
3) Relieving Cancer Symptoms
Some evidence suggests that CBD can prove effective in reducing the side effects of chemotherapy, like nausea and vomiting. Many people with cancer resort to natural products after other medications have failed.
More scientific studies suggest that cannabinoids makes glioblastoma cells (cancer cells) sensitive to radiation but doesn't affect healthy cells.
Again, it's important for us to note here that CBD products are relatively new and untested. If you're considering CBD to help with symptoms of cancer treatment, speak to your doctor.
4) CBD paste for Heart Conditions
Studies document a possible link between CBD paste and increased cardiovascular health as it may protect your arteries, could be anti-inflammatory and may lower your blood pressure. Taking care of these critical body parts reduces the chances of strokes and heart attacks.
5) Antipsychotic Effects
CBD extract might improve symptoms in schizophrenia patients, especially in the first stages of the illness. There are not nearly enough studies to show the effects at various stages of the disease. Studies do suggest that cannabidiol may be an effective treatment for psychosis and addiction.
The study linked above tested 42 people diagnosed with schizophrenia. The doctors gave the patients a 200mg dose of CBD daily. Gradually, the dose was increased to 4 x 200mg a day, and by the end of the 4th-week psychotic symptoms appeared to be reduced.
6) Diabetes prevention
Oxidative stress and inflammation is a major contribution to diabetes. Your endocannabinoid system influences oxygen production, tissue injury, and inflammation. We've discussed the potential of cannabidiol as a potent antioxidant and an anti-inflammatory agent. Studies also suggest that CBD consumption may be combative t0 diabetes.
7) Helps Clear Up Acne
Acne is a common skin disease worldwide, but despite this, we still don't have a cure. Sebum is an oily substance contributing to acne, which your skin produces naturally. The paste could help acne problem as research hints at CBD's ability to lower sebum production. What's more, the potential anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory nature of CBD oil paste may help ease other skin ailments.
8) A concise list of other uses
While cannabinoids may have research supporting it's postive effects for some ailments, CBD may help with other complex issues too. Other ailments that researchers are investigating the effects of CBD include:
- Migraines and tension headaches
- Allergies
- Asthma
- Alzheimer's disease and dementia
- Parkinson's disease
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
How do you use CBD paste?
Typically, the best CBD is mixed with a carrier oil and comes in a syringe. You can squeeze about a pea-size amount out and mix it with your food. Or, you can dissolve it under your tongue which allows easier absorption of cannabinoids into your bloodstream as the CBD will then bypasses the metabolism process in your digestive system.
CBD paste may taste unpleasant for some. If the taste is just too much, you can add a teaspoon of honey. Also, to directly target achy joints, dab a bit of paste on your skin where it hurts.
Keep in mind; as a paste, CBD is more concentrated than oil and gummies. So, begin with a small amount and gradually increase it over time.
If you find that keeping the paste under your tongue causes sticky gums and teeth, swallow it instead. Remember, that it takes time for edibles to take effect.
Does CBD oil work the same as the paste?
The only difference is that as a paste, CBD is generally full-spectrum and made by CO2 extraction.
Organic CBD Paste UK
Some of the best quality CBD oil paste in the UK are sourced from EU-certified hemp plants. The European Union has specific criteria for organic farming. Eurofins conducts testing such as:
- Cannabinoid profile essays
- Looking at whether over 500 types of pesticides are present
- Detection of heavy metals
- Check the origin authenticity of the hemp
- Looking for traces of pathogens
- Determining if residual solvents used to extract CBD from cannabis are left behind. There should be none.
Is Organic Certification Always Necessary
Certification is preferred because hemp can absorb heavy metals and pesticides from soil. Still, many hemp producers in Europe use all the organic principles while waiting for accreditation. Sometimes their organic CBD paste for sale is perfect and much more affordable.
